Manning is joining the artificial intelligence-backed clinical documentation firm as the company looks to scale and snag more healthcare customers, Nabla said in a press release Tuesday. His appointment is effective immediately, a spokesperson said.

He replaces Alex LeBrun, the AI scribe’s co-founder and former CEO. LeBrun took on the chief executive position at Paris-based frontier AI research firm AMI Labs earlier this year, though he continues to serve at Nabla as executive chairman and chief AI officer.

Manning previously worked at Bamboo Health, a health technology company that assists with care coordination, behavioral health capacity and referrals, and controlled substance monitoring and analytics. He also served as chief revenue officer of care coordination tech firm PatientPing, which was acquired by Bamboo in 2021, and worked at doctor search company Zocdoc, according to his LinkedIn.

He joins as Nabla aims to expand its reach in the competitive AI scribe space. The company works with more than 190 healthcare organizations, including CVS Health, M Health Fairview and UCLA Health, according to the release. Nabla also raised a $70 million Series C round last year.

The appointment comes as AI has become one of the healthcare sector’s most sought-after technologies, promising to alleviate workforce shortages and providers’ hefty burden of administrative tasks.

AI scribes, or tools that typically record conversations with patients and draft clinical notes, have become more common in healthcare. The field includes a number of companies offering documentation and clinical assistants, including technology giants like Microsoft and Amazon and major electronic health record vendors Epic and Oracle Health.
